Los siete capítulos de la biografía están organizados cronológicamente: 1- El joven humanista; 2- El Estado de Utopía; 3- El consejero del rey; 4- El defensor de la fe; 5- Las dificultades del Canciller; 6- “Perder la cabeza sin sufrir daño”; 7- Un hombre para todas las ocasiones. Estos títulos resumen la vida, la muerte y la influencia de More, el quizá más importante hombre renacentista de Inglaterra.
Atrapado entre su lealtad al rey y la obediencia a su conciencia, More finalmente se decide por su conciencia y asume la pena de muerte como consecuencia. ¿Porqué? Esta pregunta todavía no ha sido respondida satisfactoriamente por los estudiosos. El libro de Kenny no le da al lector los elementos suficientes para aventurar una respuesta propia, tal es su brevedad.
En resumen, entonces, este es un buen libro para obtener una confiable visión panorámica de una vida, cuyos motivos sin embargo requieren de un tratamiento más íntimo y detallado.
